Living with Chronic Fatigue & Fibromyalgia
Every day was a challenge! At first, I thought it was the flu until I started to feel pain all over my body. I was tired and had no energy, I knew something wasn't right. Several months later I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME and Fibromyalgia.
My first thoughts were 'How will I cope with this illness' 'What will happen to me?' I was scared and worried, especially for my family.
For days on end, I lay in my bed thinking "When will I get better?" I couldn't move, I felt numb and hopeless. The biggest challenge I faced was with my children, suffering from Chronic Fatigue and having 2 young children was very difficult. Even taking my youngest to the shops was hard work but the biggest heartache was not being able to hold her hand because even that was painful.The pain got worse I had difficulty sleeping and walking, my vision and hearing became sensitive.
My Dark days
I felt isolated, I was unable to work or even socialise with friends, I even struggled to make dinner and help my children with their homework. I was experiencing brain fog, anxiety and frustration, I would just sit there and cry over silly things. I started to feel hopeless and then depression slowly crept in. Life just seemed impossible. "How could I escape this horrendous feeling?" I then realised it wasn't going away.
I found my Purpose
Even in my darkest days I never gave up, I had hope. I found a purpose in life - My children and my husband, he was my rock. I found solutions through spiritual belief, network groups, therapies and doctors. I had so much help and support from friends and family. My children and husband gave me the strength and courage to keep going and stay alive.

The road to recovery
Hope and faith gave me the strength to recover. I knew that this pain was not going away so I had to learn how to manage it. I did my research and set myself goals. First I looked at my diet, I knew that changing what I eat would make a huge difference, and it did, it gave me so much more energy. I learnt how to pace myself and find the right balance in life through meditation. I found holistic and physical treatments such as Lymphatic massage a key element in my recovery, I still continue with these treatments today.
Finally, I could see a light at the end of the tunnel
Recovery isn't easy in fact it can be very challenging, Many people never recover from Chronic Fatigue they learn how to live with the pain. I've suffered for a decade now I have had my fair share of ups and downs, but God helped me pull through, I pray every night. I am not fully recovered just yet but I am living a healthy, happier lifestyle. The changes I made helped me manage the pain and become a stronger person. Never lose hope you must BELIEVE.
